Water Levels

Water levels typically follow rainfall patterns during periods of wet weather and drought. From these data, one can get a picture of how recent flood or drought events compare to historical data.

    Bathymetric Maps and Depth Information

These are the latest available contour maps of the river section's bottom. These maps are used to determine the volume of river section which can be useful in calculating flow volume and for determining where deep and shallow spots exist in a section of the river as well as to see the channel of the river. Additional Hydrology and Geology Information

The Lake Region Classification System is a tool used for grouping lakes based on similarities in physiography, geology, soils, hydrology, water chemistry, vegetation, and climate. It was created from a cooperative effort involving the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and researchers at the University of Florida's Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. There are a total of 47 Lake Region groups. These are used to provide a framework of the different types of lakes in the state so that management plans can be developed for groups of lakes with similar characteristics. The lake region this lake is located in is:

    Tampa Plain (Region 7522)

This is a plain of low relief, with elevations ranging from 5-90 feet. This region has slightly acidic, darkwater, mesotrophic lakes, in contrast to the more clear lakes of the bordering Keystone Lakes (located in the middle of this region), and Land-o-Lakes regions (located to the east of this region).
